New WillsWing Covert Harness

Covert

Some real nice images are finally coming in of the new WillsWing Covert competition harness. WillsWing has had some catching up to do in the competition harness arena but it sure looks like they have a winner here.

The name is interesting - it has two definitions:

  1. Adjective - not openly acknowledged or displayed
  2. Noun - the feathers covering the bases of the main flight or tail feathers of a bird

How to Foot-Launch

We don't do a lot of foot-launching around here but this is a good instructional video to see proper methods of foot-launching.

Milestones

Reinhold told me to pass on the message that everyone else missed out on the best day of the year....I'd almost have to agree.

Instant Notifications activated

I've enabled "Instant Notifications" on the site. Weather and schedules change often in this sport and the best way for us to keep you in the loop is for you to subscribe to these notifications. This way, as we check weather and instructor availability, we schedule sessions online and if you're subscribed to that specific session type (ie scooter session or tandem flight availability), you'll be emailed as soon as we schedule them (or edit their status) so you can make arrangements to join us ASAP.

ThanksGiving Flying

Another fun morning of flying. Another 14 tows!

Two of the students (Reinhold and Amanda) were out to brave the brisk morning. We got out there just after sunrise (going on 8) to frosty grounds but we all warmed up quickly. It was Reinhold's sixth session and he's transitioning to the base-tube now on the Condor and landing on the wheels. It was Amanda's third session and she's handling the Condor 330 well despite her small stature.

New sessions added to the website are sent automatically to Twitter now....so...."Follow Us on Twitter" so you can find out when we schedule last minute training sessions. We try to take advantage of every ideal weather day for flying.

Teenagers Hang Gliding

Thanks to Ryan Wood for pointing out this article for me. We had a 15-year-old woman taking an intro session last weekend and then went for a tandem. She was thrilled after soaring the tandem with Mark Frutiger. She's go her eye on taking lessons with her dad and they are contemplating tackling the same busy schedule mentioned in the article....including her music lessons and school studies. We'd love to have Amber on board with us and watching her skill grow.

See the attached article.

A great hang gliding explanation video

Scooter Tow Course completed

MarkOnTow.jpg

What a great trip last week. How can it not be - hanging out in the sun (while it's snowing AGAIN at home), catching up with friends, existing at Wallaby....but the main reason for going was to check out the the scooter towing clinic.

I'm going to be tackling some hang gliding instruction and I want to do it right. WillsWing funded Steve Wendt from BlueSky to come down to Wallaby and put on this FREE scooter tow course. It's the ideal way to teach (and learn) the basics of hang gliding. You can take someone with ZERO knowledge of hang gliding, hook them up on the WillsWing Condor training glider and pull them along the flat ground just a few feet off of the ground for a thousand feet. Zero risk.
