Courses

We provide a variety of courses to students based on their individual goals.

Mark on TowIntro Session - come out for a day of fun and learning. This is a great social outting for any out-door enthusiast. You can come out with no knowledge of hang gliding (but we recommend some preparation in advance) and we will get your feet off the ground. We give you brief but thorough instruction about what hang gliding is all about, review of the aircraft and other gear and how the instruction works. We use a 'scooter-tow' which is the industry standard method of instruction to introduce people to getting in the air. You'll never get higher than you are willing to jump from on your first day and you use a certified glider that is designed for this sort of first-day instruction.

Price $120 (depending on the venue which dictates the distance you will fly).

Intro LaunchBeginner Course - this is for the serious pilot wanting to experience hang gliding solo. This course consists of:

  • four 3-hour evening in-class sessions where you formally learn all aspects of hang gliding so you have a complete knowledge of what adventures lie ahead.
  • six sessions similar to the Intro Sessions to build your on-glider skills and will get you enough experience to earn your HPAC Beginner rating and often well on your way to your HPAC Novice rating. 35-40 tows are included in this Beginner Course
  • aero-towing process overview including cart-launching during your last scooter-tow session
  • text book and study materials
  • two year 'subscription' to our live on-line theory seminars - tune in as often as you like to learn the theory at your own pace
  • use of school gliders, harnesses and helmets during training sessions
  • HPAC Beginner Rating exam administration

After this course, you should be well on your way towards flying solo. Once complete, together we can come up with a plan on how to proceed - ideas include:

  • further Scooter-tow sessions to gain more skills. These are provided at a discounted rate once you compete your course
  • aero-towing instruction sessions
  • tandem flight(s) to get you some high-altitude & thermalling experience and help you build confidence in your abilities
  • equipment purchases vs. rentals for your continued flying

Price is $1100 for the full course.

TandemTandem Instruction Flight - you can also come out with no knowledge of hang gliding and after a brief instruction you can experience a full aero-tow along side a certified tandem instructor. You won't have to do anything but lie in your harness and enjoy the view but you'll also be given the opportunity to control the glider once at altitude and learn how to control the glider.

Prices are $150 per tandem flight.

Intermediate Courses - there's a lot to know and our intermediate courses are designed to take you beyond your initial instruction and continue on your way towards your hang gliding goals. Whether they are to extend your flight times, work towards going cross-country and even introduce you to competing - we have the experience to help you on your way with confidence.

All courses are taught by certified instructors and can be enjoyed by people of all ages, sizes and fitness levels.

If you've ever dreamed of flying like a bird (which we think is 100% of the people out there) we can help you live that dream. You may think you have a "fear of heights"...but we're certain you have a "fear of falling". We'll help you overcome that fear by giving you the faith in our collective abilities.
